Questions

Frequently Asked

Who can attend and vote at the AGM?

Every member is welcome to attend. Voting is open to members in good standing – generally those whose shares are fully paid up and who are not in default on a loan. Each member has one vote, however many shares they hold.

Who can I appoint as my proxy?

Your proxy must also be an SMDPCCU member in good standing, and must bring valid ID to the meeting. Choose someone you trust to follow your voting instructions.

Where do I hand in my proxy form?

Take the completed, signed form with a photocopy of your ID to the Secretary at the Head Office in Atonsu, or to any branch, at least 48 hours before the meeting starts. Late forms may not be accepted.

When are the next Board and committee elections?

Board and committee elections are held every four years. There are no elections at this year’s AGM – the next will be held at the 2029 AGM.

What if I send a proxy and then attend myself?

That’s fine – if you attend in person, your proxy appointment is cancelled and you vote for yourself.

Can I vote or ask questions through the live stream?

The live stream is for watching only, so it can’t be used to vote. If you have a question for the Board, send it in advance by WhatsApp or email, or ask your proxy to raise it at the meeting.

Will printed copies of the financial statements be available?

Yes. Printed booklets are available at the meeting, and the PDF will be posted on this page before the AGM so you can read it in advance.
